Today, two photos without a story. I just like them. What do you think?
I pass by the “Philips Nederland” building, here in Eindhoven, every day on my way to work. I always liked the way the building was lit at night but when I tried to photograph the building last year the photos didn’t turn out the way I had imagined. I figured my photography skills have improved [...]
While I was wandering around the old Strijp-S industrial complex I came across an alleyway. The first thing I noticed was all the graffiti on the walls of the old buildings. Then I noticed a sign at the end of the alley: “Grolsch”, a Dutch beer brand. It was one of those signs that you [...]
Three days ago I somewhat shamefully posted that I would have to start showing some of my “older work” because the days were getting so dreary. Well, I seem to have rebounded from my little photographic slum pretty quickly I think. During my lunch break yesterday I discovered a perfect photo location for the next [...]
Because I got some good feedback on the photo of the Catherina church, which I published last week, I thought I’d post another HDR photo. This is one of my favorites, it is a detail photo of the completely redesigned “Light tower”, a landmark building here in Eindhoven.
After my meeting with the happy Bull Terrier yesterday, I came across a little tree that had these very nice looking yellow and green leafs on it. This little tree, combined with the different colors in the background and the golden morning sun just begged to be photographed. Well, who am i to see no [...]
This morning when I drove to work I went past a spot where I made a photo about a month ago. The leafs had just started falling off of the trees, most of them were still green. I noticed this morning that these trees didn’t have a single leaf on them anymore. Autumn sure moves [...]
I normally don’t use HDR very much. Mainly because it takes quite a bit of time to make a good HDR photo. A lot of the ones I see are very much over done and look very weird. But, this photo of the Catherina church in Eindhoven needed a little something extra. The original just [...]
I captured this lovely little sequence the other day. I don’t think it needs any explanation. I love seeing my kids have fun.
Last Friday I attempted to make some photos in the dark again. It is pretty difficult to do that. Why? Because you don’t hardly see anything when you look through the viewfinder of a camera at night. So, a couple of my photos didn’t really turn out the way I imagined they would. But, a [...]
I looked out the window and thought, the ugly part of Fall has arrived because my backyard really doesn’t look very good anymore. But, then I had to think about this book that I was reading yesterday. It was a photo book about the architecture of the buildings build by Philips Electronics. Most of the [...]
I thought it was time again to talk about a photographer that I admire. One of the photographers who’s blog posts I always read, and look at, with much interest, is Jasmine Star. Jasmine Star is a wedding photographer from Southern California. There’s a number of photographers in California who’s work I’m interested in. Jose [...]
Last year I gave Melissa a mouse for Christmas. Not a real mouse but a “House of Mouse” mouse. The House of Mouse is a store on the Etsy site where cute little mouse dolls are sold. I bought her an “Artist mouse”, a painter, because Melissa is an artist. This year, as an early [...]
Last Saturday I was on a date with Melissa. A good idea by the way, a date with your wife. Especially if you have kids, it’s good to have some time together so you don’t forget why you chose each other in the first place. Anyway, at some point we came across something with beautiful [...]
Kailea is a real girl. What do I mean by that? She is only three years old but she is very interested in clothing and hair decoration (hair ties etc.). A lot of times she will change her outfit five or more times a day. It doesn’t happen very often that I see her in [...]
Saturday was October 31st. In the US everyone knows that this is Halloween. Over here in the Netherlands Halloween is a little bit less well known, but it is gaining popularity. Seeing that my family is 75% American, we celebrate Halloween every year. Here are Melissa’s and Kailea’s costumes.
Our dog Maxine turned 13 yesterday. She is pretty much blind these days and she is starting to go deaf, but she can still find her way using her nose. Happy birthday Max.
