Pinata

A while ago I did a photo shoot for a friend of ours. Not a photo shoot of her but a shoot of the pinatas that she makes. She started her own business where she makes and sells pinatas and cakes. She is really good. Her company is called Kokoppu.

Here is a photo of one of her pinatas. I really like this one.

Kids on Ice

We went to see Kids on Ice today, a sort of Holiday on Ice show but completely performed by kids. The show was put together very well. Lots of fun music. Kailea liked it too, it was just a little but too long for her though.

I was planning on taking pictures during the show. When we got there I went and looked for a good spot to takes photos from. When I asked one of the volunteers if I could stand closer to the ice to take some photos I was told that it was “strictly prohibited” to take photos. That was a big disappointment. I was really looking forward to taking photos today. But, I still highly recommend seeing the Kids on Ice show next year.

And, because a blog post without photos is not my style, here’s an “Easter photo”.

Kailea’s birthday party

Kailea had a very nice birthday party where she invited lots of friends. We ate the barbie cake. We had a pinata, and of course there were presents.

Melissa made a Barbie cake for Kailea’s birthday party, which she had last Saturday. I thought it was really pretty. Kind of a pity that it had to be eaten, but luckily it tasted good too. Banana flavor!

We had a baby shower at our house today for one of our friends. Melissa made a combined birthday and baby shower cake and it looked good! I think this is her best looking cake yet. And luckily I had my studio set-up so I could take a nice photo of it.

I also took a couple of baby photos but I haven’t edited those yet. We’ll save them for next week.

Oh yeah, not only did the cake look good, it tasted good too!

Ella’s birthday

Last week we celebrated the fact that Ella was born one year ago, on my birthday. Yep, me and my youngest daughter share our birthdays. We mainly celebrated her birthday. My birthday is of lesser importance now. I don’t really mind though. I’ve had plenty of exclusive birthday celebrations in my life.

Anyway, it was fun. She got her own personal little birthday cake and got to eat it all by herself.

Melissa’s birthday

With all the focus on New Year’s eve and the New Year I would almost forget that we had a birthday last week. Melissa turned…. well, I guess you’re not supposed to reveal a woman’s age. She’s still pretty young though. Especially compared to me.

We had lots of fun that day. Went out to eat for lunch. Had a pizza and cake party with friends at dinner time (thank you very much Vanessa and Aaron for helping out while I was hiding behind the camera), and we played Phase 10 afterwards. It was a good birthday.

Of course Melissa made her own birthday cake, because she is the world’s best cake maker. It was very very yummy, as always.

And guess what? Next week we get to celebrate two more birthdays in our family. Woo hoo!

The last two years I think, I actually went to bed around 10PM on new years eve. This year Melissa suggested that I stay up until after midnight and take some fireworks photos, so I did, from our balcony. It was an interesting experience. A very steep learning curve, very cold, very loud, but lots of fun.

The first photo is a small overview to show a little bit of the extend of the fire works displays. On every street, in all of the country, people buy fire works and shoot it off between midnight and about 1AM. The main fire works display in the photo is from one of my neighbours. In the background you can see all sorts of far away fire works shows being put on by other people.
The two photos after that are a bit more up close. I really like those. I think they worked out very well.
